Etching is a process that I enjoy and this year I completed at workshop at Crown Point Press, San Francisco which was an amazing experience. Aquatint, spite bite, soft and hard ground, soap ground, line etching it all worked wonderfully.
Aluminium plates with green etching method is used to create these 3 prints, they are as a result of random mark making. I have used copper sulphate to etch the plates and inked them up and printed on Fabriano paper. Prints are 120mm x 120mm and if you are interested in seeing more, email me ahkavanagh@gmail.com and I will be happy to send you more images. |
Recycling my copper plates with new images emerging
This is a series of aquatint etchings, using images that I collected in my sketch book while traveling, looking from an aircraft above the artic to large city scapes reflecting on each other. How they translate when I use copper plates that I aquatint and achieve variation in the shades, my aim is to have minimal images that reflect my findings.
